Kakkathuruthu

Kakkathuruthu! No man’s land. Let me correct myself I forgot to mention that U can reach this island, travel from Cochin to Alpy on NH17 till Eramallor ferry. Obviously you have to take a rice boat or a ferry from there and sail the winds across the Vembanad lake to this mesmerising island. The island is mostly spectacular during the evening. Once you reach here then only you will believe that this is one among the many destination to see across the world in 24hrs which National Geographic Channel has listed. Now only will realise lately that this is our own Kakkathuruthu island. The view of the sunset from this island is immensely spectacular. The biodiversity of the mangroves and the wetlands which pave way to the nesting of inumerous birds and the view of backwaters during the sunset would be a feast to your eyes.

How to get there

Kakkathuruthu is accessible only by boat. Reach the turnpike at Eramalloor on the Kochi-Alappuzha National Highway, which is roughly 75 km from Kochi airport.Travelers can go directly to the Kakkathuruthu jetty or take a private boat at Kodupuram.
