Aruvikkuzhi is a beautiful picnic spot and an ideal shooting location for movies located in Kottayam. Aruvikkuzhi Waterfalls, falling in five steps, is a real feast for the eyes. Here streams make their way through the landscape and the water roars as it cascades down the mountains from a height of 100 ft. It is an ideal place for trekking and is located in the midst of rubber plantations.
Visiting Aruvikkuzhi, the local falls, is an added plus for people who reach here for backwater rides.Small yet pretty, the waterfall is inviting enough for a short break of a couple of hours or even a half day picnic.The green backdrop of rubber plantations around is complemented by the sparkle of meandering streams.Birds fly over nearby plantations as well as wetlands.At Aruvikkuzhi, water cascades down about 100 ft from a rocky terrain. Refreshingly scenic surrounding is ideal for picnics, if you are fine with the nature walk of 2 kms.
The best time to visit Aruvikkuzhi waterfalls is immediately after monsoon, i.e. from September onwards. Tourism department has placed sign boards along the small track leading to the falls.
St. Mary’s Church is situated at the top of the waterfalls. The rubber plantation centre at Pallickathod, is just 1 km from this spot.
